While it is true, as Raknem points out, that the people of Domrémy had experienced the horrors of war and sided with the French, there would, ultimately, be comparatively little difference between one ruler and another for them (Raknem 11). Thus, in part, Joan was more easily accepted as a truly inspired messenger because she would have had no other reason to undertake such a mission if she had not been instructed by her voices.

For those who had few suspicions about the divine nature of Joan's mission acceptance was, of course, much easier. Their goals for France were being reinforced by the word of God, as delivered to them by Joan. The Dauphin and his friends may have found it politically expedient to accept Joan's claims, or they may have believed what she had to tell them.
