The fact that the bourgeoisie benefits from its position of power and the fact that this power is intimately and specifically intertwined with the oppression of labor combine to explain why the bourgeoisie is no longer fit to rule. The concentration of capital and control of labor, which now alienates the bourgeoisie from the great mass of society in a positive way, makes the fall of the bourgeoisie and indeed of capital, or property, appropriate and imperative. As he states in his Manifesto:
