ed between 1980 and 1990. Several interesting findings were observed concerning the nature of feedback. First, it was found that supervisors and managers motivate employees better when they have been provided training in how to give feedback.
Second, feedback was observed to be more effective in terms of increasing both work performance and motivation when it was provided by multiple supervisors/managers. In other words, employees listen better to two or more supervisors than they do to only one supervisor. It was also observed that feedback was positively correlated with worker job satisfaction.
All of the observed feedback effects were found for feedback consisting of a mixture of both negative and positive remarks. However, Wanguri (1995) reported that due to many methodological flaws in the existing research, more tightly controlled research needs to be conducted before any strong conclusions can be made.
