and a bag of dried beans for counters. Other objects can be used instead of beans for counters if they are already available in the classroom. These bingo cards are divided into 16 squares of four rows and four columns. Within each square is placed a vocabulary term or diagram representing a concept. As a definition is read by the teacher, students cover the appropriate square on their card with a counter to signify that it has been used. The first student to cover every square in a row, (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally) or on the whole card wins the round.

Previous to playing Vocabulary Bingo the teacher must compile a list of terms to be reviewed along with their definitions. A minimum of 25 terms will be needed for cards with 16 spaces. The greater the number of terms the more time it will take the class to have a win. At this point if the teacher wishes, he may construct permanent bingo cards of tag board. Permanent cards should be six inches square to accommodate inch and a half spaces to write the vocabulary term or draw a diagram. After writing the terms in the spaces, these cards can then be laminated to increase their durability and longevity. For teachers not wishing to construct a permanent set of cards, students can use a piece of regular paper folded into fourths, vertically and horizontally, for their card for the day.
