The two girls are differentiated from the boy "mainly by their lighter skin color" a practice that was common in Egyptian art.6 The boy's skin is a dark red, and the girls are painted white. The bull, a dark yellow-brown with white spotting, leaps across the space with all four legs extended and its head lowered toward the girl who grasps its horns. The hair of all three figures is dressed in a long, crimped style with sidelocks that is typical in most Minoan art. The fresco is surrounded by several layers of framing fresco work which employ the same basic colors of the fresco in an abstract design. In the largest section of the frame, overlapping tongues of the basic colors (except green) are painted with alternating designs of circular dots and wavy lines.
