. According to the content and style of the speech, one can speculate that the speech was presented to mark the beginning of a conference on the topic of "Women and Mental Health." Furthermore, it was targeted primarily at mental health practitioners and other related professionals who provide mental health services to women (Princess Diana par. 20).

In this concise speech, Princess Diana began by highlighting the immediate causes of women's mental health problems – their selfless and incessant provision of care for their families at the expense of their own well-being. Moreover, not only do women lack sufficient social and psychological support to provide them with some respite from their overwhelming responsibilities, they also lack an appropriate outlet to vent their frustration (pars. 1-8). The second part of the speech offered a critique of the mental health professionals by illuminating their role in the suppression of women's distress by over-prescribing anti-depressants and tranquilizers (Princess Diana par. 10-2). According to Princess Diana, professionals should encourage women to express their feelings and identify the underlying causes of their distress (pars. 12-3). Finally, Princess Diana pointed out society's contribution to the undermining of women's psychological well-being (pars. 17-9). With this speech, Princess Diana thus set out her agenda of capturing the plight of the women, as well as the complicity of mental health professionals and society in general.
