Aristotle's description of ethics as a practical science means that ethics is something that has application to real life beyond the merely theoretical or speculative. Ethics matters. Therefore, it involves action as well as consideration of contingent situations, in which a choice has to be made for the proper action. Further, any actions undertaken have a purpose beyond their ethical nature; they aim at what eventually comes to be called a good. It does not matter whether the actions dispose of a matter in itself or have importance
