Finally, and most significantly, the acknowledgement of the significance of their communities also compels schools to analyse and evaluate their organisational and management practices to determine whether they encompass the higher values and standards they sought to inculcate in their students. Essentially, in their efforts to motivate students to learn, school leaders should also assess their own efforts in creating an environment in which teachers and students are able to participate in the decision-making processes. In other words, school leaders cannot honestly strive to cultivate positive values and practices in students that they themselves do not implement in the management of their schools (Lang 2003).
