However, various research studies and incidents have shown that children and adolescents sometimes commit acts that are uncannily similar to specific media scenarios, even when they involve harmful and violent actions (Cantor "Effects of Media Violence on Aggression, Desensitization, and Interpersonal Hostility"; Barker 30).

One of the research studies was conducted by Dafna Lemish, which evaluated the impact of the introduction of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) program to Israeli TV. Using a nationwide survey of elementary school principals, teacher and students, Lemish discovered that over half of the principals reported problems caused by the imitation of WWF style of fighting in school. The principals noticed a significant change in the type of imitative behaviors of the children before and after the airing of the program.
