Types of Groups

ople used for comparing oneself to, with normative functions; a group which sets and enforces standards of conduct and belief. It sets a standard by which people can compare themselves or others, such as a religious group such as Jews or Protestants.

Leadership is the ability to influence people to do things.

Authoritarian leadership involves giving orders and organizing people, directing people to do things, and not taking input from members (Groups).

Democratic leadership is soliciting group input and coordinating joint efforts (Groups).

Expressive leadership focuses on the well-being of the group, with the leader having a primary relationship with members of the group and offering sympathy (Brussiere).

Instrumental leadership focuses on getting things done, tending to have secondary relationships with members of the group, and tending to concentrate on performance (Brussiere).

He brokered the NAFTA and GATT treaties, brought both sides together on the Middle East crisis, settled the upheaval in Bosnia without the use of troops, restored Jean-Bertrand Aristide to power in Haiti, and took on a heavy domestic agenda at home. He led a prosperous economy and left the presidency with a fiscal surplus, something rarely seen.
