The purpose of the proposed project will be to assess the status of employee job satisfaction within the Material Management Division. In assessing the status of employee job satisfaction, job satisfaction levels will be measured, and variations in these levels associated with specified demographic factors will be analyzed. The information generated will provide a basis for the development by hospital and division administrators of strategies that minimize adverse impacts on human resources.
Three research objectives will be pursued in the proposed project. The research objectives of the proposed project will be to (1) establish the level of employee job satisfaction within the Material Management Division, (2) assess the significance of variations in employee job satisfaction levels, and (3) identify factors explaining variations in employee job satisfaction. The variations in the levels of employee job satisfaction within the Material Management Division will be compared and analyzed within the context of the following demographic factors: (1) employee age, (2) employee ethnic or racial background, (3) employee gender, (4) employee job classification level, and (5) employee longevity with the Material Management Division. Employee age will be classified as (1) under 30 years old, (2) 30 to 49 years old, or (3) 50 years old and older. Employee ethnic or racial background will be classified as (1) African American, (2) Asian American, (3) Caucasian, (4) Hispanic, (5) Native American, (6) Pacific Islander, or (7) Other.
