The study's purposes may be broken down into the following research questions:
1) To what extent has participation in the program increased students' level of knowledge about HIV infection and AIDS?
2) To what extent has participation in the program increased the safe sex (self-protective) behaviors of students who are sexually active?
(3) To what extent has participation in the program reduced the likelihood that teens who are not sexually active will elect to begin sexual activity during their high school years?
(4) To what extent has participation in the program reduced the likelihood that teens who are not sexually active will engage in unprotected sex once they become sexually active?
5) Does the degree of gain in student knowledge about HIV infection and AIDS, significantly differ depending upon differential amounts of program participation?
6) Does student knowledge about HIV infection and AIDS transmission, obtained as a result of program participation, significantly differ depending upon whether they are male or female?
7) Does the safe sex behaviors of sexually active students attending the program significantly differ in association with different amounts of program participation?
8) Do the safe sex practices of sexually active students who attended the program significantly differ depending upon whether they are male or female?
(9) Does the likelihood that teens who are not sexually active will elect to begin sexual activity during the high school years significantly differ depending upon differential amounts of program participation?
