All these ties suggest the plausibility of viewing today's health problem as a response to modern environments, and one therefore amenable to improvement through public policy measures (Milio, 1981, p. 9). This proposal describes a program designed to facilitate improvement in maternal and child health in rural Nigeria through the delivery of appropriate health education to women in rural Nigeria. It is hypothesized that, if women in rural Nigeria are effectively educated with respect to maternal and child health requirements, that family and selfcare actions will be able to compensate for some of the deficits in official public health program in rural Nigeria.
