This research provides an overview of the organization, purpose and development of The Limited, Inc. The Limited is a parent corporation, which operates in the women's retail clothing industry through a structure of whollyowned subsidiary companies (Standard, & Poor's, 1990).Limited Stores, Inc., the corporate forerunner of The Limited, Inc., was founded, and incorporated in Ohio in 1963 (Moody's Investors Service, 1990). The company operated as Limited Stores, Inc. for the first twenty years of its existence. It was reincorporated in Delaware in 1982, as The Limited, Inc., with Limited Stores, Inc. as a whollyowned subsidiary (Moody's Investors Services, 1990).
