Limited Stores, Inc., the corporate forerunner of The Limited, Inc., was founded, and incorporated in Ohio in 1963 (Moody's Investors Service, 1990). The company operated as Limited Stores, Inc. for the first twenty years of its exist ence. It was reincorporated in Delaware in 1982, as The Limited, Inc., with Limited Stores, Inc. as a wholly owned sub sidiary (Moody's Investors Services, 1990).
The company was founded in 1963, and reincorporated in 1982, by L. H. Wexner, and Bella Wexner (Moody's Investors Ser vice, 1990). These two principals remain in important corpor ate offices in 1990, as chair, and secretary, respectively (Moody's Investors Service, 1990).
The company was founded by the Wexners as a capital build ing, and income producing vehicle. Retail women's clothing was selected as being compatible with their experience.
