Limited Stores, Inc., the corporate forerunner of The Limited, Inc., was founded, and incorporated in Ohio in 1963 (Moody's Investors Service, 1990). The company operated as Limited Stores, Inc. for the first twenty years of its existence. It was reincorporated in Delaware in 1982, as The Limited, Inc., with Limited Stores, Inc. as a whollyowned subsidiary (Moody's Investors Services, 1990).

The company was founded in 1963, and reincorporated in 1982, by L. H. Wexner, and Bella Wexner (Moody's Investors Service, 1990). These two principals remain in important corporate offices in 1990, as chair, and secretary, respectively (Moody's Investors Service, 1990).

The company was founded by the Wexners as a capitalbuilding, and incomeproducing vehicle. Retail women's clothing was selected as being compatible with their experience.
