elopment of the samlor is traced, (2) its function within the urban transportation system of Bangkok is explained, (3) operating and physical descriptions of the samlor are provided, (4) the financial and economic aspects of the use of the samlor in Bangkok's urban transportation structure are analyzed, (5) and the effects of samlor use on the spatial distribution of intracity transportation routes within Bangkok are identified.

In the conduct of the research for this study, secondary sources of information were relied on exclusively. The data thus collected were obtained from official documents and publications of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), the United Nations, and the United States federal government. Data were also obtained from a wide variety of relevant nongovernmental studies and articles present in the literature.
