We get three types of support in the New Testament that Christ was both full deity and fully human, inseparably intertwined within the one individual known as Christ. In I Tim. 2:5 and Heb. 2:14, 17 we get support for his full humanity. In I Tim. 2:5 we see Jesus as mediator between God and man, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” Many scholars contend that the significance of Christ is that he was a medium of exchange between humans and God. In the beginning was the “word”, and the “word” is God. Yet, it took Jesus to communicate the word of God to humans and for humans to communicate with God. In this manner, some contend that Christ was only one of a variety of common denominators in our communication with God, “Christ was not the only common denominator between ourselves and God. It is because of Christ that the temple curtain was torn, and it is because of Christ that we can now pray to God.” In Heb. 2:14, 17 we see part of Christ’s incarnation was to destroy the power of the devil, “as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.” We see in II Cor. 5:21, Heb. 4:15, and I Jn. 3:5 that Jesus’ humanity was a sinless humanity in order to demonstrate to other humans the quality of sinlessness, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God
