Psychologically, performing community service offers benefits to the needy as well as those who give their time, effort and caring to the community. For the needy, volunteering to spend time, money and other resources with them demonstrates that they are not as hopeless as many homeless believe to be. It also shows them that someone does care about them even though many pass them by without so much as a second glance or thought.
