Iraq War

a) President Bush’s motives for war on Iraq.

b) Vice-President Cheney’s motives for war on Iraq.

c) Lack of U.N. approval with respect to war on Iraq.

Despite the motives of Bush and Cheney and regardless of U.N. approval, the U.S. has many reasons that justify war on Iraq.

d) Security: Weapons of mass destruction.

a) Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda connection.

c) Weapons inspectors report violations.

d) Biological, chemical and nuclear weapons.

e) Starving Iraqis, genocide of Kurds, etc.

The U.S. is valid in waging war on Iraq for the above reasons.

The fact that the U.S. President is the son of a former U.S. president who was the victim of an assassination attempt by Saddam Hussein makes many people suspect about U.S. motives for waging war on Iraq. So, too, the fact that U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney hails from one of America’s wealthiest oil families also makes the motives of the current administration viewed with suspicion. Further, without U.N. approval, many argue that the U.S. has no right to unilaterally wage war on Iraq.

Despite the doubt about the actual motives behind the U.S.’s desire to wage war on Iraq and even though the U.S. currently lacks U.N. approval to do so, the U.S. has a number of reasons that fully justifies the war against Iraq.

a) The U.S. is justified in waging war against Iraq because of Iraq’s numerous connections to international terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda.

b) The U.S. is also justified in waging war against Iraq because of the Iraqi connection to the terrorist actions of September 11, 2001, whose fugitives it has also harbored.
