When the United States played a key role in helping establish the State of Israel, the Arab world was collectively infuriated. Arabs reserved a great deal of their enmity toward the United States because establishment of the State of Israel meant Arabs living in Palestinian lands would be uprooted. Due to these actions, for the rest of the 20th century America’s goodwill in the Arab world would never again rise to pre-WWII levels.
