Forensic Investigations

This is an excerpt from the paper...

Forensic science is the use of scientific knowledge and technology applied to criminal investigations. The forensic scientist of investigator is half scientists and half detective. He or she collects, examines and reports on evidence from criminal activity. The field of forensic science is broad and complex. Forensic investigation encompasses a variety of disciplines among law enforcement, judicial system, and government authorities. All data is compiled and routed through this division, the reports generated for the entire laboratory system are supported and maintained in this division. The Administrative Division is the information heart-beat of the state crime lab since it collects and organizes information on more than a half a million pieces of evidence annually, but it is also enhanced by technological advances, “The implementation of new evidence-receiving methods, such as lock boxes and standardized evidence submission kits for blood alcohol, sexual assault and gunshot residue, has shortened the lab’s processing times on evidence submitted by law enforcement agencies.” The latent print section of division is one of the most significant since it is the section which oversees one of the most co
