ng women today are fighting this inequality. In the process, in the workplace and at home, it is men who are being asked to shift their perceptions and make a leap of consciousness. Gloria Steinem is one such advocate who supports the contention that things cannot be more equal in the workplace or home until men become aware of what their role in the movement toward true equality encompasses, “To move further toward a new kind of equality in the working world, women – and men – will be increasingly confronted with a fundamental change in the home. More men will be expected to cook dinner, clean the house, bathe the kids and in other ways participate in the invisible work traditionally done by women. Having it all doesn’t mean doing it all. Men have always had it all and hot had to do it all. Twenty-five years ago the leap of consciousness we made was that women can do what men can do. The next leap we need it that men can do what women can do” (Evans 4).
