In an Atlantic Monthly article, Eric Schlosser sums up the feelings of many who think the insanity defense ought to be abolished “Schlosser reminds readers of the unanticipated impact of the insanity defense on the families of victims. He argues persuasively that much more attention and concern is accorded the ‘insane’ killers than their victims” (Vatz and Weinberg, 1998, 1).
