The theoretical or conceptual framework for this study is based on Bandura’s social cognitive theory. This study increases the emphasis on increasing self-efficacy for adjustment behavior. Bandura labeled an individual’s confidence in their ability to carry out a certain behavior as self-efficacy. Accordingly, if the self-efficacy of a patient increases, so will their success at performing the specific behavior. So, too, effort and persistence increase as successful performance of the behavior increases. The intervention schedule at hand is designed to assist nurses in raising the level of self-efficacy in patients through adjusting behaviors. Effort and persistence are extremely important in the maintenance and management of behaviors aimed at ameliorating the painful symptoms of FM. Cognitive therapy could be a useful associated intervention to help raise self-efficacy in patients with FM through behavior change.
