Self-Evaluation

As a future director, I have been religiously studying the art of filmmaking the past few months in a variety of ways. First, I have immersed myself in note-taking, character notes, scraps of dialogue, plot ideas, title ideas, summaries, and concepts which I believe when culled will yield many excellent ideas for both documentary and fiction films. I have done this in various ways. I have read avariciously anything that I believe enhances my skills as filmmaker, from psychology and philosophy books to articles on civil rights. I have also studies different forms and types of music and made notes regarding the tone, mood or theme the music invoked within me, ones which I can later use when that mood suits a particular portion of film. I have also studied classic Hollywood films from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s when filmmaking was an art and the craft approached a pinnacle to which it has failed to return. I also have closely studied major political and social events that have affected the nation, the world, or me personally. For example, the Clinton scandal made me think of doing a documentary about the ways in which the media influences public perception, as well as the politics and personality of the individuals involved. It made me think it would be funny to show the world finally coming to universal peace because wives of world leaders would no longer sleep with their husbands if they did not change their destructive behavior and start acting in a positive manner to help humanity.

I have also been improving my health habits and working on my personal discipline and stamina over the past six months because it takes an enormous amount of effort and energy to produce or direct a film. To this end I have also been working enormously hard on my people-skills because with a certain synergy on the set, the entire film is at risk. I have done this by practicing communicating with people in a firm but respectful man
