I propose to conduct research on Sweden that pertains to conducting business in the country. In an increasingly global marketplace, investors and corporations cannot afford to ignore potential markets. Accordingly they and their lawyers cannot afford to be ignorant of a variety of laws, statutes, ordinance, and regulatory agencies that impact business in Sweden.
Sweden has a complex list of laws, statutes and ordinance governing everything from labor, including state laws, to taxation. In addition, various regulatory agencies monitor a variety of business practices and/or must permit companies to do business in Sweden. In light of the complexities created by Sweden’s participation in the European Union, an understanding of such information is critical for business success in Sweden.
I will conduct research on Sweden’s business environment and law via use of the Internet and the ample resources of the University library. I will also rely on fee-based sites to gain access to information that is pertinent to the scope of this research but not available for free via the Internet.
Another valuable source of information and guidance for this research will be my promoter, a Swedish lawyer currently residing in Dallas, Texas. He will represent a valuable resource tool and source of support for this project that will enhance its value.
