By the end of the session, Conrad screams at Dr. Berger as if he were screaming at his brother: “Why did you let go?” (Redford 1980). Once he has experienced this transference, Conrad is able to resolve his feelings of blame and guilt.
There are a variety of forms that transference may take. Transference is often seen in victims of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, when triggers in the here-and-now emit feelings and attitudes evoked by the trauma in the past to come to the fore. Transference is able to take a variety of forms based on the fact that different kinds of patient problems will manifest different kinds of transference.
