Holly Sklar (1984) held that the "locus of power of an international ruling class is the global corporation" and that this international ruling class, through the MNC, seeks to "rationalize the world economy in their interest" (p. 8). Sklar further pointed out that the "economies of most countries are dwarfed by the economic power of the largest corporations and banks" (p. 9).

It is certainly safe to state that informed opinion is widely diverse on the impact of MNCs on developing countries. A specific case is examined in the following discussion.
