Case Study of Billy

rie, who is 17. Both Billy's parents have independent professions that provide them with the flexibility to care for Billy throughout the day. While William is a florist who owns his own business, Linda is a freelance graphic designer who works out of the family home. Apart from his immediate family, Billy also visits his paternal grandmother, Nancy (aged 70) and his maternal grandparents, John (aged 72) and Lois (aged 65) on a weekly basis. William's father died when Billy was only four years old. Every major holiday such as Christmas, Billy also meets his cousins, Jonathon (aged 10) and Joanne (aged 12)ùthe children of Linda's brother, Joe, a divorced single father. Billy has no other close relatives as William is a single child.

In spite of his diagnosis that is manifested in his challenging behaviors, Billy is embraced wholeheartedly by a loving and supportive family. Even though Valerie, his sister, experiences some difficulties with him in their interaction, she is able to overcome her frustration with the help of their parents. With the help of the behavior therapist, Billy is learning how to interact appropriately with his sister without engaging in aggressive behavior such as hitting and teasing his sister. Billy's grandparents and other relatives are also very understanding as they provide tremendous moral support to Billy and his family.

Currently, Billy is receiving a wide variety of services in order to address his sensory and behavioral problems. First, he has a behavior specialist who helps Billy and his family to eliminate his behavioral problems. Second, Billy also has a mobile therapist (MT) who collaborates with the other specialists in reducing Billy's inappropriate behavior. Through role playing, the MT and Billy's family are reinforcing Billy's acquisition of social skills. Third, Billy has an occupational therapist (OT) who addresses Billy's sensory needs by recommending specific techniques...
