Strategically and operationally, SC operates each of the three primary business segments shown in Chart One in essentially different manners, with differing strategic objectives. The results of those strategies appear in the Annual Report for FY 2000.
Oilfield Services is the leading supplier of services and technology to the international petroleum industry. It provides virtually every type of service to the upstream exploration and production industry. The business segment is managed geographically.
Within the four geographic areas are 25 GeoMarket regions, which bring together geographically focused teams to meet local needs and to provide customized solutions. New technology development is performed by 13 Service Groups to exploit synergies and to introduce innovative solutions into the delivery of products and services within the GeoMarket regions.
The Service Groups reflect key areas of Schlumberger expertise. They are organized into three Product Groups that represent the key processes that dominate oil company requirements throughout the life cycle of the reservoir.
