Ethical communication in a global information world must be peppered with qualifiers such as "I suspect this to be the case," "there is evidence to support this conclusion," or "it appears to be." Any statement of absolute certitude about a complex topic is likely to be either mistaken or misleading. In a complex world, there is no linear spectrum from falsity to truth; rather, there is landscape of evidence, some mountains, some molehills, through which we must navigate in hopes of discovering the truth. In such a world, Aristotle's formulation is of little use.
