But all humans possess culture; indeed the fact that we each participate in complex cultural activities is as defining an aspect of our humanity as is our opposing thumb or our chromosomal structure. And one of the arenas in which culture is most apparent - as both Schulz and Joynor argue - is in the groups that we belong to. And among the most important of these groups for many Americans is the work place. A good manager is one who creates and enforces rules in the workplace that promote efficiency and profit - as well as the happiness and mutual respect of all workers.

In our workplaces we develop what many scholars call a "corporate culture", which is the rules, customs and mores of a particular workplace. Different workplaces vary from one to another.
