Undoubtedly, this representative will receive orders for such implementation from officials within the Army and the Department of Defense (DOD). From this representative, the Subcommittee will seek a complete listing of all Ranger student deaths and injuries since the inception of Ranger training, as well as a complete accounting for the reason for these deaths and injuries.
The Subcommittee is seeking specifically to determine whether previous deaths have been caused by poor training procedures. Of course, it is unlikely TRADOC, the Army, and the DOD will be forthcoming with this information and may seek to prevent its dissemination by claiming national security or some other privilege. However, this subcommittee feels this information is important enough that it will rely on any legal means available to obtain this information, whether that be a court order, or a subpoena.
