For the purpose of this project self-injurious behavior is operationally defined as any individual behavior that is deliberate and damages the body tissue, with no suicidal intent (Nock & Prinstein, 2004).
The term self-injurious behavior is used interchangeably with self-mutilation behavior (Ross & Heath, 2002).
