The foregoing, plus the fact that distance learning methods have repeatedly been found to be at least as effective a mode of instruction as the traditional classroom setting (see: Thompson, 1998), make distance education very promising in terms of helping Kuwait to train the thousands of workers that pour into the country looking for jobs in the oil industry.
