3. Dramatic or pretend play consisting of the substitution of an imaginary situation to satisfy the child's personal wishes and needs. In such play, the child might also pretend to be a doctor or a nurse or Batman; usually pretend play begins with simple activities but progresses to more elaborate plots and scenarios.

4. Games with rules consisting of any play activity that has rules, structure, and a goal (e.g. winning) such as tag, hopscotch and marbles. At this level of play, there is the acceptance of prearranged rules and adjustment to them.
