Rush (1985), for example, noted that Public Law 94142 and the Vocational Amendments of 1968 were to have had a significant impact on the job skill training programs that are available to learning disabled (LD) students in the public schools. Job skill training is available to high school students through vocational education.

Rush conducted a study of 74 learning disabled students in a Richland Country, South Carolina school district in order to determine the relationship between job skill training and employment status of learning disabled high school graduates. Also, the study attempted to determine the percentage of employed subjects who were employed in the same field in which they received job skill training.
