Approximately 27 percent of the normative sample were minorities. However, it is estimated that minorities comprise about 31 percent of the U.S. population. Also, as a whole, the sample slightly over-represents Blacks and Whites, and slightly under-represents Hispanics. Further, sample subjects were drawn from 18 states and represented urban, suburban, and rural communities.

Regarding the psychometric properties of the SSRS, reliability estimates are highest for the three teacher forms ranging from .80 to .90 and higher. Lower coefficients were observed for both the Parent and Student Forms.
