were also similar to the model developed by Blake and Mouton (1964), who labeled their two dimensions as concern for people and concern for production.

Blake and Mouton actually created a grid using these two dimensions with the vertical axis representing concern for people from low to high and the horizontal axis representing concern for production, also from low to high. They measured each on a nine-point scale, leaving 81 separate leadership positions. For example, the 9,1 person is the total authoritarian, with the highest concern for production values, and the least concern for human needs and values.

Unfortunately, there are many different positions that seem to be associated with the capacity for successful leaders. Successful leaders can be extremely high on people orientation, or extremely authoritarian and oriented toward production.
