Several negative consequences are associated with teen pregnancy. Brown (1985) reports that these consequences include complications of pregnancy (e.g. anemia, prolonged labor, toxemia); low birth-weight infants; high infant mortality rates; infants born with neurological deficits; decreased chances of the mother finishing high school; decreased lifetime income; risk of repeated pregnancy; increased risk of giving birth to children with low IQs that will do poorly in school; and increased chance of giving
