With respect to the Mexican sample, a generally low level of correlation between strategic factors, and factors related to industry predictability was found. The conclusion was, thus, that the strategy of Mexican companies included in the research sample is not generally compatible with predictability characteristics related to technology and market demand, andthat performance would likely be improved through a greater consideration of industry predictability characteristics during strategy development.
With respect to the American sample, a generally low to moderate level of correlation between strategic factors, and factors related to industry predictability. The conclusion was that the strategy of American companies included in the research sample was not generally compatible with predictabil ity characteristics related to technology and market demand. Thus, their performance could likely be improved through a greater consideration of industry predictability characteris tics during the formulation of strategy. San Diego was considered to be superior to Baja California in six of location decision criteria areas, with Baja Califor nia rated superior in labor costs. The conclusion was that San Diego is in a strong position to attract Mexican companies.
It was concluded, however, that the probability of expan sion or relocation outside of existing areas is weak. Thus, although San Diego holds strong advantages over Baja Califor nia, the probability that Mexican firms will either expand or relocate in San Diego is slight.
