For example, today's youth has ecstasy (MDMA) and crack, a powerful form of cocaine which is highly addictive as well as life-threatening.

At first, the new generation was referred to as the "Baby Busters," in contrast to the preceding generation, which was known as the "Baby Boomers." The reasoning behind this was that, "since today's young adults were born during a period when the U.S. birthrate decreased to half the level of its postwar peak, in the wake of the great baby boom, they are sometimes called the baby busters" (Gross & Scott, 1990, p. 57). Then, in 1991, the name "Generation X" was derived from a novel of the same name by Canadian author Douglas Coupland.
