But Reiss is interested in "building a new sexual philosophy based on pluralism" and argues very convincingly that it is "the traditional values that are the roots of our sexual crises" (36). He wants to see an entirely new, open approach to human sexuality: one that is based on "the guiding values of honesty, equality, and responsibility," values that provide "a moral foundation for sexual choice" (36). But, as he points out, a number of battles have already been started. They have, however, stalled when they have reached a certain point in changing Americans' minds about sex.
