This article is important for companies considering doing business in emerging markets because it points out opportunities, but also identifies some of the areas of risk that companies would be taking on when they enter these emerging markets.

An article in Business America gives companies seeking to do business in emerging markets information on assistance that is available from the US government. US Commercial Centers are now located in Brazil (Sao Paulo), Indonesia (Jakarta) and will soon open in China (Shanghai). These centers give companies a way to exhibit at an affordable venue, and offer greater visibility than would otherwise be available if the companies did not have the assistance of the centers.

The centers were the idea of two Democratic members of Congress and were authorized in 1992 as part of the Jobs through Exports Act. The centers were included in the Act
