Guadagnoli, McNamara, Evanisko, and Beasley (1999) studied the effect of race on approaching families for organ donation. The authors used a logistic regression model to analyze data from records at 112 hospitals. The database studied included 2202 white and 814 African American patients that were suitable for donation. Findings showed that 73% of families of patients were approached by hospital staff regarding organ donation.
