Moyer, Rounds, and Hannum (2004) conducted a meta-analysis of researching using massage therapy for a variety of medical conditions, including depression. The conducted meta-analysis was said to show that even single applications of massage therapy reduced patient state anxiety, blood pressure and heart-rate, but not depressive mood. However, when multiple applications of massage therapy were applied, depression was found to be significantly reduced.
