Corporate culture requires these rituals as a way of propagating the ideas and ideals which the company considers important, and they serve as a way to inculcate new members into the culture itself (Mor Barak, Cherin & Berkman, 1998, p. 84). Thus, dinners marking and celebrating the length of service of employees, can mark rites of passage which encourage the longterm commitment to the organization that is critical to the organization's success.
