Perhaps even more disconcerting is the story of the nativity and the lack of mention ever again in the gospels. Matthew and Luke provide great detail about the virgin birth, the visitation of the Magi and the appearance of angles to shepherds; clearly, this event, with the differdnt details related in the gospels, marked the birth of a great king.
