Neptune and Uranus

Orbit: Neptune has an elliptical orbit of 164.8 years, an eccentricity of 0.009, and an inclination of 1.77 degrees.

Revolution: Rotation period is 16 hours and 7 minutes.

Average temperature: Mean temperature is 48 Kelvin or -350 degrees Fahrenheit with similar pressure as that on earth. Interior temperature reaches approximately 5000 degrees Fahrenheit with similar increase in pressure.

Atmospheric circulation: Solar ultraviolet radiation breaks methane down to ethane, acetylene, and other haze particles which sink down to the lower colder stratosphere and freeze to become ice particles. Ice particles fall into the warmer troposphere where they evaporate back into hydrocarbon gases. As these continue sink further into the higher temperatures and pressures and mix, they regenerate methane. The methane forms buoyant clouds that then rise up to the stratosphere to start the cycle over.

Absorption rate: Neptune radiate 2.6 times as much heat as it absorbs from the sun. Because there is a lot of methane in the atmosphere, the methane absorbs the red light from the sun, this is why the planet Neptune appears blue-green in color.

Wind speed: Winds blow retrograde, or opposite the rotation of the planet, at approximately 2000 to 2400 kilometers per hour or 1200 to 1500 miles per hour.

Chemical composition: Atmospheric composition is 74% hydrogen, 25% helium, and 1% methane. Outer envelope is molecular hydrogen, helium, and methane. Mantle is composed of water, ammonia, methane, and other elements, with a rock core. At the higher temperatures and pressures of the interior this composition causes a "rain of diamonds".

Orbit: Uranus orbits the sun once every 84.01 Earth years in an elliptical orbit, and has an eccentricity of 0.0461 and an inclination of .774 degrees

Revolution: Uranus rotates completely every 17 hours and 14 minutes.

Average temperature: 52 to 60 Kelvin, or -350 to -366 degrees Fah
