Muller (1995) reported early findings on the effects of parent involvement on mathematic academic achievement in eighth graders. Data from the National Educational Longitudinal Study of 1988 were used to examine variables. Parent involvement in the home, community, and school were examined. Findings showed that when background and grades of the student were controlled, full-time employment of the mother resulted in lower math achievement test scores.
