ian life begins with a definite "knowing," not an intellectual knowledge, but an opening of the eyes of the heart to see what we have in Christ. Divine revelation is essential to this knowledge. Christ on the Cross has done all of the work.

What follows this knowledge confuses many, and it is reckoning, understanding ourselves to be dead. People try to reckon without knowing, but this cannot be done. The secret of reckoning is revelation from God himself. Reckoning is a word that means doing accounts, and accounting is the only thing in the world we humans can do correctly. We are first to reckon faith. Temptation and failure are the challenge to faith. "Deliverance from sin" is more correct than to say "victory over sin" because God deals with sin by removing the sinner. We must choose which facts we will count upon and live by. Whatever contradicts the word of God is the devil's lie. We are to abide in Christ.
